John B. Haviland, Distinguished Research Professor of Anthropology at UCSD, is a Tzotzil (Tsotsil, Tzotsil) interpreter for courtroom, legal, and health proceedings. He is certified as an interpreter for Dept. of Justice, Homeland Security, and immigration purposes by SOSi, and is a professionally (language) qualified interpreter in multiple Federal and State Court districts. He has worked since 1996 as interpreter, translator, and expert witness in cases involving speakers of Mayan Indian languages from Chiapas and other parts of Mexico.
